Moon Landing

For the first adventure into Kalkitos land, I thought I would start in the great unknown. Space themed Kalkitos were always very popular, of course the most popular one is Star Wars, to be featured at a later date.

We start though with 'Moon Landing'. The Kalkitos # is 053183/B8 and is copyrighted 1978. This is the smaller 3 panel style Kalkitos. The moon is in Panel 1/2, to give you a sense of how the Kalkitos is laid out. I really like the incredibly vibrant colors in the rocket/s. Note the space shuttle and the 2001/Kubrik style spacecraft. Very cool moon landing, man!

Welcome fellow KALKITOS lovers.

What is KALKITOS?

Well, according to the helpful folk at WIKIPEDIA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalkitos) Kalkitos was:

an art based leisure magazine for children. It was created by The Gillette Company's paper division. Hugely popular in Europe, South East Asia and Central America, they comprised of a printed cardboard scene devoid of people, cars, etc. and a transparent sheet of coloured transfers containing people, vehicles, weapons, explosions or animals.

Sound about right?

It sure was, and I don't know why, but I loved it!

Anyway, about a year ago I went in search of a Kalkitos website... and you wouldn't believe it... I COULD NOT find one!

Sounds blasphemous, doesn't it!

So, I decided to start this as a way of reliving my old Kalkitos childhood.

I have ALOT of Kalkitos myself, why the hell I ever kept them don't ask, but I thought what I night do is share them with the internet community (and the generations) ... I'm going to try and release one at least every month.. so hold on because here comes THE Kalkitos reference site.
